Current Engagement
February - March 2025
The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) works to protect water from pollutants that come from many sources. “Nutrients” are found in soils and other places and help plants grow, but when too many nutrients get into our water they can make drinking water unsafe for drinking and can make rivers and lakes unpleasant or unsafe.
DEQ is considering possible ideas for addressing water quality issues caused by too many nutrients. DEQ is partnering with Oregon’s Kitchen Table to hear from people across Oregon about issues related to nutrients and water quality. We also want to hear what ideas you have about ways to improve water quality.
Your input will help DEQ create a statewide plan for nutrient management. Your input will also help the State of Oregon find opportunities to partner with local communities, researchers, and other agencies to solve nutrient-related water quality issues in Oregon.
Right now we are planning for the community engagement that will begin in February 2025. There will be multiple ways to participate, including a survey, hosting a conversation, and participating in forums in April 2025. More information will be available soon. To get updates, join our mailing list.
